Four Ways to Lose a Lover

The sun sets and our romance ends.
But, you’ll be back tomorrow-
Right?
You can’t stay mad at the setting sun.

The sheets show the creases of your curves,
I don’t want to think how you’re with another,
We built this home together,
But you tore it down alone.

Forever is the longest time to promise,
But it’s the one you made me say.
I’ll stick to my words, but
The pressure to stay in love isn’t one of the heart.

Your pleas flow from your mouth like a water fall,
My head, low, like a weeping willow,
I’ll deny the pain,
But the disappointment hangs forever.

This poem definitely had an effect on me. The way you describe the settings describe within themselves the feelings associated within those settings. Like "You can’t stay mad at the setting sun." shows that not only is the sun setting, but because the sun is setting you have a sudden feeling of remorse and wisfulness, and you want that person back.

Also the lines "The sheets show the creases of your curves,
I don’t want to think how you’re with another," are very effective in describing the longing one has when they lose that someone, because they see in their sheets a part of that someone.

Very effective and impactful..really liked the poem.
